Cropped and Ruffled

I’m heading for Stockholm later this week, but right now I’m still very occupied with my everyday life. There are a lot of things to do before the trip, but I’m trying not to stress about it. And as usual, I’ll end up packing my luggage a few hours before the flight. Yes, I’m one of those people. I have an idea of everything I’m going to wear and need during my trip, but for some reason, I just can’t get them packed until I absolutely must. Stockholm is such a stylish city, I hope the weather favours me and I get a lot of photos taken!

Manchester has been having a very spring like weather, mixed with occasional freezing cold rainy days, that remind you of the fact that spring is not hear yet. Not matter how much you want it to be. But those spring-like days really cheer me up and make me want to create things. Me and my boyfriend have taken on a few projects around the apartment. They are mostly IKEA hacks, but I’ve also found inspiration to dig out my sewing machine. I have some interior and fashion ideas I can’t wait to get started with!

We have also been finding and even creating recipes, that I can’t wait to share with you. Truthfully, they are not healthy meal ideas, but they are delicious.

Today was one of those sunny days. I was happy to receive some positive comments about my outfit today at work, and I thought it would be nice to get some truthful ootd-photos taken of it. It is an incredibly black outfit, so it doesn’t photograph very well, but that is just something I often wear in my everyday life. I find black the easiest, most reliable option on busy days. With the spring-like weather appearing more often, I might find myself in colourful floral patterns soon, but in the meanwhile, black will do. Pardon my face in the photos, I tried desperately to hide my tiredness with sunglasses, but failed quite badly.

I finally gave in to the ruffle trend, when I found this black knit. I’ve been shying away from the trend, as I have felt the frills might be a bit too girly for me. I didn’t want to end up looking like a fancy chicken, so it took me a while to find a piece I was comfortable with. Not that I would feel obligated to try each and every trend, but the ruffles were just so damn cute on everyone else, that I got excited. Of course on a black knit, the ruffles don’t really jump out, and so it works well on a gal who doesn’t fancy herself as a girly girl.

I also recently surprised myself by picking up straight and cropped jeans. I’m too accustomed to always wearing black skinny jeans, so I’m trying to ease my way into other kinds of options. So far, I’m liking them. Lighter coloured straight jeans are on my spring shopping list, now that I know the silhouette of the trousers doesn’t bother me. Lighter shade of denim is just trickier for a short person like me, but I’m enthusiastic to try implicating them into my style anyway.
